Applications and Airplanes

We got our notice in the mail yesterday that our I-600a application has been approved by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services. This includes our FBI fingerprinting, our homestudy, etc... This doesn't really affect our wait for our referral (match) but it's just another part of the process that is now completed. Yay!

Lately Riley has been really interested in looking at his baby book/lifebook. It sits on the coffee table in our family room, and usually at least once a day he will go over and open it up and start looking through it. From the first week he came home we have told him "his story." About how he flew from Korea in a big airplane and Mommy and Daddy were waiting for him at the airport. We were so excited and couldn't wait for him to come through the doors so that we could hold him and kiss him and bring him home.

I know that he is still so young that he doesn't really "get" his story, but he has become very fascinated with the thought that he got to fly on a big airplane to the airport to see Mommy and Daddy. This past week he has been saying "I go to airport. Big airplane. Mommy and Daddy pick up, too." And, then he will run into the family room and turn to the pages with the pictures of that day when he came home. It's fun to reminisce about that special day, as the Detroit airport for our "birth story" was our hospital. The place where we were finally got to meet our sweet baby boy and the place where we officially became parents for the first time. Whenever I see an airplane it evokes all sorts of emotions as I think of the precious gift we were given to raise.

Running the Bases

Yesterday afternoon we headed to Raleigh to watch the NC State baseball team in a doubleheader against Wake Forest. We had a lot of fun even though it wasn't a very pretty day. State won both games by a lot! Last year we went to Columbia, SC, and watched the Pack in the NCAA regional playoffs. That was one of the most fun weekends we have had. Riley did great last year; he seemed to enjoy being outside and taking in all of the sights and sounds. Yesterday he did great, too. In between games we drove around the State campus (where Michael went to college) and then around the Meredith campus (where I went to college). It still blows our minds that we were so close and both involved in Campus Crusade for Christ on the State campus, yet really never knew each other while in college.

The highlight for Riley yesterday was running the bases. He was, by far, the youngest base runner. As you will see in the video he made it to 2nd base and then wanted his daddy to hold him! (Sorry for the shaky video footage!)
