Our Newest Blessing...

has been born!

Annalise King was born on 1/11/11 at 7:11pm...11 days past her due date. She weighed 8 pounds, 7 ounces and was 20 inches long.

It was quite an adventure driving to the hospital early Tuesday morning to be induced in the middle of an ice and snowstorm.

The delivery went very well except for the surprise of Annalise being "sunny side up" as she came out. This caused quite a bit of trauma for me, but I am recovering well so far.

We came home yesterday from the hospital and are getting settled into life with a newborn.

We chose the name Annalise because we loved it. After learning the significance/meaning of the name we knew this was the name for our daughter.

"Anna" is a variant of the Hebrew name "Hannah" meaning "grace." In the Bible, Hannah was mother of the prophet Samuel. Being barren, she asked God to bless her with a child, and her prayer was answered. Hence, the name literally means "God has graced me with a son."

"Lise" is a variant of the Hebrew name "Elizabeth" meaning "God's promise." In the New Testament, Elizabeth was the mother of John the Baptist. She thought herself incapable of having children until husband Zechariah was visited by the angel Gabriel, who told him his wife would have a son "who will be great in the sight of the Lord!"

"King" was Michael's mom's maiden name and thus the last name of his Grandad King who he was extremely close to growing up. Most of Michael's grandad's friends called him "King" rather than his given first name. We knew we wanted to give our baby this family name as her middle name to honor the special person that Grandad King was in Michael's life.

Thank you for sharing in our joy as we are full of thankfulness and awe of this blessing in our lives!
